March 2003               Click here to go back to this year

This month has got of to a wet start, after a surprisingly dry February.

We are now beginning to see the effects from the application of liquid nitrogen two weeks ago.
Deban second wheat is now beginning to catch up and Oil seed rape is showing signs of stem extension.

Deban 2nd Wheat

During the week commencing 17th March, we have applied the second and final dose of liquid nitrogen to our Oil Seed Rape, which is now growing rapidly with flower buds fully visible. Winter barley and wheat are also receiving their second application.
Spring beans, drilled at the beginning of February are struggling to emerge through the surface of a seedbed which has become quite dry and hard over the past 10 days of  settled weather more like June than March. When it rains, we expect them to come through rapidly.
