We’ve completed planting second wheat on the 10th
This completes cereal planting for this year.
All the ground has been prepared using our cultivator press this year in place of ploughing. Using non-inversion cultivation has enabled us to achieve considerably better seedbeds than normal which is leading to a more even germination and emergence of the crop.

The improved evenness of seedbed achieved with our cultivator press is showing up with very even emergence of our second wheat. Heavy land on the tops of hills is emerging at the same time and rate as the rest of the field.

Although wet under foot, we are managing to find the occasional day with light winds to apply autumn herbicide to first wheat.
